Twin Tapestry

When I was a little girl, the forest knew my name, before the world got loud, we knew how to play.

We ran with the wind like it called us out, bare feet learning what life’s about, blackberry fingers, purple and sweet, dirt and the rhythm beneath our feet.

The trees would bend just to let us through, sunlight dancing like it knew, rabbits showed us where to go, birds sang secrets only we could know.

We didn’t need anything… we had it all...
Just a rope swing and a sky so tall.

We were wild in the roots, running free
Earth and air growing you growing me...
Tread by tread, we came to see
Hand in hand, heart to heart
We were never really apart

Now the world moves fast in glowing screens, quiet hearts behind bright machines, I can still hear it calling me back, to the dirt, the trees, the winding path.

Little souls learning how to be
In the arms of the living trees
Thread by thread, we came to see
Love was our memory tapestry.
